Hi, Robert. 
First, the PARENT button brings up a hierarchy browser which is great if you 
are unsure of the name of the destination folder. If you already know exactly 
where you want to put it you can just specify it in the parsable text with the 
"tofld" command. See p.105 of the user guide. For example

Pay electric bill today @checkbook -tofldWork
when parsed will create a task with caption "Pay electric bill today" with a 
context of @checkbook and store it in the "work" folder.

I don't know much about custom hotkeys but I imagine it would be a small deal 
to create a hotkey to type -TofldWork and another to type -tofldHome etc
