Hello JELPHD, It's functionality which needs to be requested. MLO defaults to inheriting context and dates from the parent, until you alter them manually (or unless you write dates and context into the new task description and hit Alt-Enter to parse that information).
I've posted on a few threads to suggest that it would be good to implement functionality that another outliner, Bonsai, used to have many years ago - so that the user can decide whether a task inherits dates, context, flags and tags from parent, from nearest sibling, or that some of them get preset to a value (eg start date set to today, due date set to the parent's due date, context set to a preset value). This would be incredibly useful for me, saving me from lots of clicks to edit loads of parameters each time I create a task. Good luck with the request.
