I agree, the lack of control of interactions between parameters can lead to
a lot of clicks to set up each new item as you want it. I've pushed a few
times for the ability to customise the initial parameters of a new task, so
that some (eg due date) can be inherited from parent or sibling tasks, or
(eg start date) set to the day the new task was created. To me, it's crazy
that I can check off a task within a project, but the project status may
still be tagged as "not started". Bonsai, a long-gone task outliner app,
used to have customisation of inheritance or initial settings of
properties, which saved lots of time.
My workaround is to set up my system to be as lean as possible - use only
the parameters I need to use to be able to filter my outline effectively.
