Follow-up Comment #1:
The error is not on building, but on running.
Also do not run MyPaint, or any other application that does not need it, as
root. It is terrible practice as far as security goes. Because MyPaint is
trying to use another the config of another user (jeff), it might be that
this will also solve your problem.
If that does not work try running MyPaint without your personal config, by
running "./mypaint -c /tmp/somerandomfolder0203"
