Follow-up Comment #2, bug #16085 (project mypaint):
Following your lead, I simply deleted my personal config files, bought my own
groceries and baked some scons, and now it all works like a charm.
Sorry for being such a dunce, posting here instead of in the forums, but I
really thought it was a bug.
