Follow-up Comment #4, bug #17420 (project mypaint):
The attached patch fixes this behaviour. Thumbnails now also get generated
when saving files *but not* when opening them. The only case (I can think of)
where a file gets opened without using the open-dialog (which either receives
or stores thumbnails to display them for the preview widget) is the recent
file menu. And in that case, the file has already been saved with mypaint, so
there's no need to generate thumbnails upon loading a file.
