I agree: it's a nicer way to do this. There's sample code for this (for the
main window at least: it should be generalised) in
http://gitorious.org/mypaint/mypaint/commit/8f2ab3c31c1986d4dcf269637a7caf6de7bff643
's set_initial_position(). So on its way, but not in a particularly useful
form for the 0.9 series sadly.
