Follow-up Comment #4, bug #17140 (project mypaint): It would be nice to allow users to lock out layers somehow so they can't be accidentally:
* Selected by Pick Context; * Selected by Select Layer at Cursor; * Drawn on. However we should allow the locked layer to be visible so that the user can, for example, paint over or under a layer without accidentally drawing on it while in flow. Usecases: everyday inking or colouring, painting away on a test layer to be merged - or not - after the experiment. These only make sense if the reference layer(s) are visible, but break flow easily if they can be selected too easily :) I think that'd cover the use case in https://gna.org/bugs/?17800 as well as this one. The user should still be able to choose a layer in the *dialog* however, for the reasons given in comment #3. What feedback should we give the user when drawing fails because the current layer is locked? Blink the layer or just have painting fail? Perhaps the cursor should change to a non-brush-circle cursor to make it obvious that painting will do nothing. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://gna.org/bugs/?17140> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ _______________________________________________ Mypaint-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/mypaint-bugs
