Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18090 (project mypaint):
The simple scribble program works because it doesn't enable the extended
input device. MyPaint will probably work too if you disable pressure in the
preferences. Here is a short pygtk program for testing that enables pressure:

Does GIMP work as expected after you enable pressure sensitivity?
Could you paste the console output when MyPaint starts? It should print you
for which input devices pressure gets enabled. It's sometimes a problem if
pressure is enabled for devices that don't have it, but claim to have it.
If you want to try the latest git version of MyPaint, you'll also have the
option to invoke the GTK input dialog manually (via debug menu) where you
could try enabling/disabling individual devices.
