Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18408 (project mypaint):

I could reproduce the problem (run mypaint with 'ulimit -v 500000'), and I
fixed the exception reporting in MyPaint git. The exception reporting does not
segfault any more, and you should get a good traceback.

However, after that, glib chooses to crash:

GLib-ERROR **: /tmp/buildd/glib2.0-2.28.6/./glib/gmem.c:202: failed to
allocate 4096 bytes
aborting...

I doubt that we can really do anything about the crashing when you run out of
memory. Even if we could, you still would not be able to save.

Could you please test again with latest git, or otherwise confirm that "out
of memory" is the problem causing your crashes? How much RAM do you have, and
what resolution do you work with?
