Follow-up Comment #4, bug #20330 (project mypaint):
These changes do indeed work excellently now! It's now easy to go through a
large list, selectively making layers visible in turn without having to scroll
more than necessary.
I have no trouble with the list scrolling to the active layer once painting on
it either, once doing that one is already committed to that layer anyway.
