I think it is very likely that the "tile stays black" bug had the same cause
as this bug that was fixed today:

Since it was not possible to reproduce it, I will close now and hope it is
really fixed.
Please reopen or fill a new bug if you see this happening again with current
git or with the soon-to-be-released 1.1.0.
