For now I'll use a colour triangle, but maybe a palette+spinner would
be a
better option.
a color triangle + color history would be great :)

On a long term , I guess the "sideways" spinner control for switch at
this place to scratchpad , hsv and color square good be a good addition.

How does that "sideways" spinner control feel and look, out of
interest? It's a bit non-standard, so I'm interested to know whether
what it does is obvious initially.
I didn't knew it wasn't standards buttons about those sideways spinner ;
and found it very KISS ; I even didn't think when I clicked on it . I
does what I expected at the first sight ; So I guess it's a really good
GUI criticism :)

A suggestion I have for this toolbar :
It's concern the action to 'open' the drop down icons ( Mypaint button /
color / brush / settings ; like this :
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6465/selection001m.png ). I would like
to know if it would be possible to open(unfold?) them with a 'mouse
over' event , and not a 'mouse click'.
I have the feeling something like this could get more fluid to use, but
I can be wrong...
But you could also accidentally move your pointer there and that could indeed be quite annoying. Could also be an option for tablet users.

Why is the Recently Used list at the bottom of the dropdown? I haven't made up my mind yet as to what might be better - that certainly depends on what one makes most use of. What could also be nice: A visible representation of the brushkeys [0 - 9] (that'd be 5 per row x 2 rows) or a subset (e.g. the first 5).

Oh, and I miss the direct access to the cute pink square icon eraser of
the ppa version :) I started to use it a lot this way with the Cintiq.
