Hi. I took up the case of the 'buggy' tar with Sun last week. They say it is
not buggy, but their filename size limit is 100. I told them it should at
least give a meaningful error message instead of 'checksum error'. They agreed
and put it forward as a request for enhancement.
To get solaris tar to work, just add the -i flag to the tar command to ignore
the checksum error.
