When installing this receiver I've choose as remote controller none and
as ir receiver none, but looks like Ubuntu can find proper modules and
load them, so using mode2 command I was able to validate that receiver
is working fine, then I've had to manually edit lirc configuration files
and use irrecord to configure my remote controller.

The bottom line is that this receiver is working fine but files needs to
be edited manually.

Status in “lirc” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: lirc

After running 'sudo apt-get install lirc' on Karmic Koala, a list of remote
controlls is diplayed.
I have a Philips OVU4003, which is just an IR receiver, and is not listed.
I installed lirc 0.8.6-0ubuntu2
I'm still trying to find out how to use it, but it seems that lirc does not
support the idea of an IR receiver by default, just a combination of receiver
and remote controll spec.
