But this is a major piece of missing functionality that we can't emulate on that version
Wow, that's the part that I couldn't believe until my fourth time or so through the docs. I thought there had to be some less convenient, but still possible, way to get the values back out, but I was wrong.
There's two options here - lose compatability with 3.1, or keep it along with
a secondary message (say, 'Your version of Qt is too old to print out a valid
error message here. Please upgrade.' or something) in the DBError function.
Thoughts?
A third option would be to create our own subclass that remembers the placeholders and emulates executedQuery. It's possible, but it's a lot of work to cope with a flaw that Trolltech has already fixed. If you wanted 3.1 compatibility badly enough, I'd suggest that route.
Since it's already difficult to make sure everything works on 3.1 (recent months have shown that), and nobody has come forward with a good defense for it, I'll have to throw my hat into the "leave 3.1 behind" ring as well.
