Tivo's done a reasonably decent UI job here. If you ask for live TV it takes you to the current recording in progress, and if you attempt to change the channel, it asks if you want to cancel the recording. However if the recording is one of their "suggestions" (what we might interpret as low priority) they try to make that invisible -- and the channel changes with no warning and the suggestion is cancelled and erased (not even the beginning is left as a fragment) I bring this up because I'm building analogs to the suggestions and having behaviour depend on the priority of the recording makes sense.
