An ebuild is fundamentally just a way to script a build. No script written yesterday can be expected to completely work tomorrow...?

It's broken by design. Why does it list the Myth libraries individually?
The main Makefile from mythtv is perfectly capable of building the whole
package.

...not if you're compiling in parallel... listing the individual libraries seems to be the only way that Myth will compile correctly on systems with multiple processors or where distcc has been installed.

I notice that something got added to CVS recently that will supposedly improve Myth's ability to compile in parallel. It's probably worth trying to remove the libraries from the ebuild and seeing what happens...
