Is there interest in moving user input to (or adding support for) the
Linux input layer? I realize that this is a fundamental change to the
current QT based UI architecture, but, it is more suited to remote
controls and "multimedia buttons." The input layer could also replace
the joystick code, and in some situations, the lirc code.
Well, I also have one of those ATI remote thingy's, so yes I have some interest. However, I suspect that there is a way to do this in a slightly different and neater way? Perhaps something more like a LIRC daemon which converts back into the input layer?
However, it would be interesting to see if it wasn't possible to abstrct the input layer further? I still have dreams of building a Palm powered remote control, possibly via a web based remote control. It would be rather useful to have a kind of abstracted "Status" component which allows external devices to find out current state of the system and hence send commands in context
Nice work. Hope it goes somewhere!
