Sounds great if you can find the support among the tools.
Yeah, and I know how big an "if" that is!
Another that should be convinced is the Jinzora (http://www.jinzora.org/) webapp. They started using mysql for metadata also and it would be great to integrate their tool in mythweb.
I had Jinzora in the back of my mind too when I wrote down my rant! I kinda envisaged a php-metalibrarian extension etc. too as I do a fair bit of PHP coding in my working role.
I heard that their metadata code is quite abstracted so hopefully that would mean this kind of integration wont be the hardest thing in the world. But I guess that remains to be seen!
I guess if this whole system worked, it wouldn't actually be part of MythWeb per se, it would be a completely separate utility but would just work with exactly the same backend data as MythMusic. But I think I'm just getting into semantics there! :)
