Manu usefull ideas here but no success in my setup. I can use S/PDIF for any program in PCM stereo stream. Even if I use usual output to alsa. But if I try to use "mplayer dvd://2 -ac hwac3" or xine with "audio.speaker_arrangement:Pass Through" while playing DD 2.0/DD 5.1 DVD's I get no sound and receiver still indicates PCM. I tried almost every option and mixer setting.
And how 'iec958set' can help me? What are the generic settings with which AC3 works on emu10k1? My system is: SB Live Value sound card [Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 08)]. DD/DTS AV Receiver Yamaha rx-v440RDS (I use stereo analog RCA cable and digital S/PDIF). SUSE 9.2 pro with 2.6.8-24-default kernel (now I use ALSA driver, utils, tools... 1.0.8rc1 but no success with AC3 passthrough yet). # cat /proc/asound/version Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.8rc1.
