Could it be that you missed the emerge message that says how to initialise the database? See here: http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-6.html#ss6.3 (btw, if the "started" state of mythbackend in erroneous you can reset it to stopped with "/etc/init.d/mythbackend zap") Henk Poley <><
