I bought a refurbished Dell 30" LCD monitor and was having a hell of a time getting a modeline that worked with the DVI connector. Out of desperation I enabled debug for the X server and in the log file, I think it was the EDID info from the monitor, there was comment with the correct modeline parameters. I have my Olevia widescreen working through a VGA cable at 1280x720, but
when I try using the DVI port it doesn't want to take the xorg parameters,

the one for DVI (what a surprise!
Or the DDC EDID data isn't passed over the DVI port of your TV and the driver doesn't know the timings for 1280x720 as a result.
I know this is a little off topic, but I was wondering if anybody has the
correct modline or - xorg.conf file- for this or a similar screen. If so,
any posting on it will be certainly welcome!
This works for 720p HD for me on my projector: ModeLine "ATSC-720-60p" 74.25 1280 1320 1376 1650 720 722 728 750
ModeLine "1280x768" 79.5 1280 1344 1472 1664 768 771 778 798
