Hi all,

I'm building a new MythTV box, and am trying to decide what to do about the tuner. I know I want a hardware tuner, so I'm trying to decide between the Hauppage PVR-250 and 500.

I know the PVR-250 has been around much longer, and is well supported, and from reading the list, the support for the PVR-500 is still at a pretty alpha stage. On the other hand the cheapest I've found the PVR-250 in stock is $148 US, I've found the PVR-500 for $140.

It sounds like the PVR-500 is close to being ready for actual use, at least for standard US-NTSC, so I'm leaning towards getting it (especially since a dual tuner would be really handy today, what with annoying broadcasters ending their shows at 10:02 instead of 10:00 and such.

So far, am I making sense?

So if I do get the PVR-500, I'll need to do something else about the remote control. I saw a thread recently that discussed people's fave remote controls. Is the one that comes with the PVR-250 actually a decent remote control? How does it compare to the ATI remote wonder, or to a standard universal remote?

I guess the other option for getting two tuners is one single-tuner card (PVR-250, PVR-250 MCE or PVR-150 or PVR-150MCE) and then getting a pcHDTV card. They do work with standard NTSC cable, right?

Thanks for any help,

Ben
