Presuming your DirectTV box actually has it's serial port enabled
(just because it's there doesn't mean it actually is functional),
that's about right.  Your IR Receiver hooks into your PVR 250 and
captures signal from the remote.  You then either find or create a
script that handles interpreting the signals from your remote into the
output your DirectTV needs to receive from the computer.  Let myth
know where this script is (you specify the script to myth in
mythtvsetup under "Input Connections" in the "External Channel Change"
command part).  From there, myth will take all the remote control
input (coming in through the PVR250's IR Receiver) and output it to
change your DirectTV receiver.
