I know that you fixed your problem, but figured I should reply to this so that there's something in the mailing list about it.

[Sun Feb 6 13:29:22 2005] [alert] [client 192.168.1.4]
/usr/local/slash/site/www.sitehere.com/htdocs/mythweb/.htaccess: Invalid
command 'php_value', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not
included in the server configuration

Being a redhat/fedora person, and seeing that redhat has used apache 2 since redhat 9 (which seems like ages ago), I think I made an "executive decision" to use php_value instead of php_flag. In my dealings, "flag" only allowed 0 or 1, and was thus entirely useless for most settings that I need to tweak for mythweb.

I've just added some comments to the default .htaccess file to hopefully explain things a little better, and help avoid such issues in the future.
