You dont use a mouse in myth, you use a keyboard or a remote control.I have almost made it to a good MythTV set-up :)
Some problems that I need pointers on :
1) audio - my audio works, but I must always run system-config-soundcard after a reboot.
2) mouse - I can't see a mouse pointer while MythTV is running; it works fine when MythTV isn't running.
Hrm. Shame. It would be nice to have mouse control, at least to start with.
3) capturing - I can't figure out how to capture a DVD to a file.
You mean rip a dvd? You need to make sure mtd is running and instead of watchign a dvd, have it rip it to the hard drive. You can choose the quality, the video and audio tracks to rip, etc. The docs at mythtv.org have more info on this.
Ok, thanks.
4) font problem - the fonts that descend below the line seem to have the lower parts chopped off. How can I fix this?
I believe I have seen that others have this problem, search the list archives for font issues and it was a recent post, I believe they are using urw-font package to take care of this.
OK, thanks.
5) can I use VLC instead of movieplayer? if so, how can I install it on fc3?I dont think so, I havent tried to so Im not sure. To instal vlc, just download the source and install, or get an RPM Heres on, first thing when I search for vlc RPM fc3 on google.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=vlc+rpm+fc3&btnG=Search
Yeah...won't install for various reasons, depending on how I try. If I use yum/smart, then it complains about no key, and I can't find one. I tried compiling from source, but some of the packages won't compile due to dependencies which I can't find. It looks like a nightmare to install...which isn't the case on Mac :(
Anyone care to help?
Max.
