I have almost made it to a good MythTV set-up :)

Some problems that I need pointers on :

1) audio - my audio works, but I must always run system-config-soundcard
after a reboot.

Do you just get the audio problems in myth, or is it systemwide (try
playing a wav file when not it myth). One option would be to just put
system-config-soundcard and any appropriate settings for you in
/etc/rc.d/rc.local More importantly, is the card not working AT ALL
before running system-config-soundcard, or are the volume levels just
screwed up?

It isn't myth related; everything doesn't work. When I try mplayer etc etc, all is quiet. I don't know if it is just a volume problem that system-config-soundcard sets at more than mute levels - but I tried fiddling with everything I can find related to volume level, but no cigar.

system-config-soundcard needs user input and an X server running, for some reason :(

Any ideas?
Having said this, I only think that it doesn't work for *everything* because I can't hear anything.

If I have something that I know works, then I can test it; unfortunately, nothing seems to work, so I don't know...

Is there a 'test' utility that will play a sound (without a sound file)?

2) mouse - I can't see a mouse pointer while MythTV is running; it works
fine when MythTV isn't running.

3) capturing - I can't figure out how to capture a DVD to a file.

4) font problem - the fonts that descend below the line seem to have the
lower parts chopped off. How can I fix this?

5) can I use VLC instead of movieplayer? if so, how can I install it on fc3?

Anyone care to help?

Max.
