Trying to run a system that is sometimes used manually is a prescription for
disaster. The idea behind mythtv is that it insulates you from the actual
signal sources and provides features like pausing live tv etc.

Here is a suggestion. When you want to watch the digibox directly set mythtv
to watch live tv and then simply watch the appropriate tv input. If myth
needs to record something else it will simply take over and change the
channel. Being able to watch one thing while recording another is why many
of us end up with 2 recievers and cap cards. :)
