I picked up two of 'em at Fry's a while back for $40 each. Unfortunately, I've never gotten them to record with the same quality as the PVR-x50s I have. The audio level is fixed at such a high level that line-in gets distorted, so you can't record from S-video or composite input. The tuner also appears to be of inferior quality; it picks up more interference than the Hauppauge cards. At one point, the card that was installed in the MythTV box just stopped working. No combination of different versions of ivtv or rebooting/power- cycling the machine would fix it. I limped along with just a PVR-350 for a week or so while a PVR-250 from an eBay seller was in transit to replace the M179. Is there a version of ivtv you've run across that gets the M179 working better than I've managed? I'm currently running 0.2.0 RC3. (Hmm...I thought I was running 0.3.something from Chris Kennedy's webpage, which might explain why the M179 quit working. Even when I was running 0.3.1y (IIRC), the M179 didn't work as well as the PVR-350.) _/_ / v \ Scott Alfter (remove the obvious to send mail) (IIGS( http://alfter.us/ Top-posting! \_^_/ rm -rf /bin/laden >What's the most annoying thing on Usenet?
