In my case it was a mixed success. Many of the issues I had with .16 were
resolved with .17, but other issues were introduced. I'm using a pcHDTV
HD-3000 with an ac97 audio chip set on my MSI 865PE Motherboard. Most things
work fine. I'm having issues as described in the 0.17 observations thread
though mine also exist while watching live TV. (this may have something to do
with the ring_buffer but adjusting it's size hasen't helped me yet. It's
definatley exacerbated by using certain de-interlacing methods, Bob 2x seems
to be the worst for me, this could have something to do with my nVidia 6600GT
as well)) Sometimes I lose the audio when changing channels but exiting live
TV and re-entering reconnects the audio channels. (switch audio channels with
+/- "sometimes" works to get it back, but not always). Other audio issues I
had in .16 on recordings though, have been resolved. This is an acceptable
trade-off for me but makes the system unusable by my family. Overall it a
wonderful step forward but still needs work, thats why it's .17 and not
1.0! :)
