I strongly suspect it is the Component out processing and the Component input
itself that is reducing the artifacts, I get some of them back if I go to an
SVIDEO ouput on the same card. I suppose it's possible (probably likely)
that nVidia is doing some additional processing of this signal.

and yup, this is (and was) with XvMC. I got the card for $190 with local
taxes. The Audio Authority scan converter (was running around $100 when I
was looking, of course, I add shipping and taxes to determine final cost) on
Linux requires a lot of modeline tweaking to get resolutions right, no decent
aspect tweeking stuff that I could find, though it might be out there. A
couple years ago (though I hate to admit it) I burned up a an old TV messing
with modelines so I'm hesitant to do much of that with an HDTV. I also have
not heard good feedback on the Audio Authority even for Windows users with
that Power Tweek software they get with it. The TVOne does a REALLY good job
in a self contained box but IT runs around $250.

Anyway, in the end, the potential future capabilities was worth $50 extra
bucks to me as well as it's ability to handle my dual monitor processing
tasks without noticaby affecting the TV stuff. Fewer parts are always a good
thing in my book too. ;) With the current 6629 driver though, it is not
absolutely perfect and doesn't leverage the card in the same way a M$ box
can. (irks me a bit)

Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin to it! :)
