Interesting, one of the long-running problems I've always faced
with my Hitachi RP 43" TV, is that despite the fact its a native
1080i tv, and will take a 720p signal as well. The STB works fine
in either mode. The strange part, I have never been able to
drive it to 1080i from X, the tv sees it as a 480p signal which
it can't sync up to. But with a 720p setting, it works great.
I have check and rechecked all the modeline settings for 1080i,
but it just never syncs up.

This of course, leads to some blockiness in fast moving
HD content since its down sampling a 1080i native to
720p before sending to the TV. Eventually I'd like
to solve this problem. Now if a new card has better 1080i
support built in, maybe there is a possibility there.
