OK. I'm not doing hdtv and my data streams barely do 1.5mbps. I tries xine with -V xxmc and it works fine. Tried to compile mythtv with xvmc and the link balks that it can't find the XvMC library. Checked /usr/X11R6/lib and it's there: # ls /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMC* /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMC.so@ /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMC.so.1.0* /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMCW.so.1@ /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMC.so.1@ /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMCW.so@ /usr/X11R6/lib/libXvMCW.so.1.0* /usr/X11R6/lib is in the ld.so.conf file so I don't know what the deal is. Back to xv only for now.
