There is something even simpler and faster, though it depends on where you sit on the swiss army knife question. There are GUI data DVD recording tools for linux, such as k3b. If you were to invoke mythlink.pl and then call up k3b looking at the mythlink output directory, it would be pretty easy to make DVD copies of your video files. (Presuming it follows symlinks, otherwise modify mythlink to use hardlinks) So you could probably write yourself a plugin to do this in a very short time. But it would not look like the Myth interface nor would it have a remote control interface. It's a mouse application. Of course, I don't use a remote much for Myth, I use the $20 Lite-on Infrared keyboard (go to chiefvalue.com for this) which has a stick-mouse on it. It's not a very good stick-mouse but it's better than no mouse! Just about every myth user should get this keyboard at that price, even if they use the remote normally.
