I didn't managed to get mythtv to work, but i was able to get sound with options tda 9887 qss=0" >> /etc/modprobe.conf

Do you use linuxfromscratch or mdk 10.1 ?

What i don't understand is that on the mandrake it almost work from scratch in xawtv so i dont get the point of changing the kernel in order to make mythtv work.

When i try to watch live tv, the backend crash with:
NVR: v4l2: format set, getting yuyv from v4l, converting
Segmentation fault

Hi !

i've been trying to use mythtv with my "tv @nywhere master" for 10+
hours now !! (capture card based on the the cx881/cx883 chispet) First
of all, i tried to do it on a Mandrake 10.1 Community edition but there
was waaaaay to many compilation/library problems. BUT i was able to see
video in xawtv (but no sound, only static).
Then i tried the last incarnation of KnoppMyth. everything went fine,
except that each time i try "Live TV" on the frontend, the backend is
crashing !
So i don't even know if my card is working, as it did in Mandrake 10.1

What is the status of the cx driver support with MythTV ?
Is there someone on this list who have been successful in using this
particular card ?

Pierre

I got mine almost working like I want it to,

driver wise, I got it working with the 2.6.10 kernel patched with
All-2.6.10 [http://dl.bytesex.org/patches/2.6.10-3/]  (I tried
2.6.11-rc4 patched, but I couldnt change channels for some reason
[might have been me, but I never investigated])

For sound, I had to do echo "options tda 9887 qss=0" >> /etc/modprobe.conf

my color was all washed out, but I found a website
[http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2004-March/037866.html] that
offerred the following advice

mysql -u mythtv -pmythtv -hyourhost mythconverg

mysql> update channel set
contrast=23200,brightness=34000,colour=32000,hue=32768;

mysql> update channel set videofilters='adjust=18:237:1.0:35:220:1.0';

I still had to play with the hue to get it right though...

[BTW, I did have changing channels working yesterday, but now it
doesnt...  (touchy I guess)]
