If you're looking for quiet, then re-consider the
XBox.
My XBox is by far the loudest PC that I have. It is
louder than (in order from loudest to quietest) my
laptop (when the fan is running), my desktop and my
MythTV machine.

Hey all,I have a friend who uses his xbos as a front
end, as I believe many people do, and was wondering if
anyone is using a ps2 as a front end, and if there
were any howtos on the subject. The only post I could
find is this one

but it's not answering any of my questions. Any tips
out there?
Not likely to happen. I have a PS2 with the Linux
kit, and it does nothave the oomph needed to be a
frontend. It's a little endian MIPSmachine running at
I want to say somewhere in the ~200-300 mHz range, with
32mb of RAM. It does of course have the GPU, but that
would haveto be specifically coded for. It also has
to run a quite very oldkernel, which can be annoying.
Thanks Nathan, and to the others who replied. Sound
like I'd have morechance making it run on my linksys
router (o: I might go looking foran xbox then....
could someone tell me what the volume levels of
thexbox are compared to a quiet pc? I'm guessing
that's going to be themost pain free way to get a
quiet(ish) front end. That way I can justmove the pc
back to the study where the whirr of PCs are accepted
