So if I have this device:
http://www.plextor.com/english/products/tv402u.htm, I can record
standard def cable tv, over usb 2.0, in mpeg4 (with mpeg2 coming
soon)? If this is so, that is too damn cool. I'll have to dust off the
old laptop and play around with it.

I prefer mpeg2, so that I can burn directly to dvd in as little steps
as possible.

The model I saw on the website
(http://www.plextor.com/english/products/ConvertX2.htm) does not have
the tuner (from what I can tell). Sorry about that...
