Hi,

Actually I'm in a similar situation. The best
connection for the cable is in my server room (right
near the amp). Seems my normal TV gets a lot of
ghosting on the computer. So I plug into my old
trusty server (dual PIII-550). I found that rtjpeg
iobound my server and really pounded it into
submission. it was just easier to set 320x240 mpeg4,
quality 7, bitrate 1600 or so, mp3 sound quality 8. I
use about 65% cpu from 1 of my processors. The
picture looks fairly good. I do have some odd sound
issue (it distorts a bit). Not sure why the sound is
distorting... but I have just 1 tunner in there. I
nice mythbackend to -19 and I can still do some
compiling on the side, serve files (about 4
computers), apache all while recording a show. My
system's not fast enough (with one processor) to do
404 x 374 or something like that (I think that's what
I was tweaking). Unfortunately when I start upping
the resolution from 320x240 I get into trouble with
the other activities my server provides. So I stuck
there. Looks good enough for tv.

-Chuck
