I don't get segfaults, but I too am having a similar problem.  I've searched
and posted here, but so far have made no headway.  What version of ivtv are
you using?  I'm still back on 0.1.9 and will try recompiling that to a newer
version tonight.

I, too, can manually cat files as well as live TV (/dev/video0 or
/dev/video1) to /dev/video17, but when I try to play back a recorded show
though the frontend, it's blank at first.  Then if I 'esc' to exit the
player, and then 'esc' again to go back to the show, I get audio, which
eventually starts popping and crackling, but no or very spotty video.  No
segfault, though.

I'm not trying to hijack your thread, just letting you and others know that
I'm seeing similar issues.

I'm using kernel 2.4.27 on a Debian box, Myth .17 was installed with
apt-get, but I've also tried rebuilding from cvs, but that didn't help.
