Sure, that works fine if you just want to download them and then play
them on your remote PC. However, as Joel stated previously, if you
want to stream them, you need to edit the mythweb.conf.

I'm very excited about this. I didn't even realize this was possible
until I saw this thread. I have successfully downloaded from my
mythbox and played some nuv files, after installing the directshow
filters on the remote PC (although the quality was poor, I'll look at
this later). However, I cannot yet get the streaming to work. I tried
copying the 'slave backend' line in mythweb.conf and editing it
appropriately, but as my backend is not a slave, I'm not sure if I'm
missing something. I also opened up port 6543 through my firewall to
the mythbox.

Joel, can you elaborate on "edit your mythweb conf to use the myth:// url"?
What exactly should this line look like?
Do I need any other ports open besides 6543?
