Thank you for the reply. A serial IR reciever... to transmit the IR
signal from the front end to the backend using my pvr-250's remote?
Sorry once again for the silly questions. I have never in my life done
any kind of tv-capture.

Such a silly question, I know, but I am so confused. I have a backend
using a pvr-250 on fc3, and a front end connected to a tv also running
fc3. The question is: how do I use the remote control that came with
the pvr-250? I installed all the lirc stuff on the backend (im
following the wilsonet.com guide), and I can see output when pressing
the buttons on the remote, but it has no effect on the frontend.
Nothing happens, nothing changes, no menu control.
You're not sending the signals to the frontend machine, you're sending them to
the backend machine. You need a remote control interface on the frontend
machine.
Installing lirc on
the front end would mean having to load up all the ivtv drivers too,
even though there is no capture card in the front end.
Not exactly, the lirc_i2c lirc driver needs ivtv loaded, as well as an ivtv
card.
What do I do, or rather, how do I make my front end work with my remote
control?
You should probably look at getting a serial IR receiver for your frontend.
