Search the lists... it's come up at least twice. The first was in December when I was archiving home video on tape to DVD. Basically, the process is:Thanks Cory - duly noted at: http://www.mythtv.info/moin.cgi/AvidemuxHowTo
Is there any preprocessing that can fix this - you previously mentioned rebuilding the b-frames (avidemux offers this as a function) and using mencoder...
- "wrap" MPEG2 into an .avi file with 'mencoder -copy...'
- Load up .avi into avidemux
- Rebuild B-frames
- Save .avi file
- Load new .avi file and edit out stuff as before.
- Save resulting as A and V to remux... you could probably do an MPEG-A+V as instead.
It's a hack, and I certainly didn't test its robustness, but it appeared to work for me at the time. I suspect it's still a bit broken, since I've tried to 'replex' the result recently to concatenate the 15-30 PES-sized PU's originally generated from the PVR-250 into a single PU. I noticed some DVD players thought the results were, "touchy."
YMMV
