I have an SS40G running just fine with MythTV.
I seem to remember that the TV output format is to be set from within the
BIOS? Have you selected a proper setting? This could have influence on your
black'n'white output?
The B&W output is only from within xine and only when running it under the mythtv user. Even in this situation, the MythTV interface is in full color and xine is in full color when run as my user.
What distribution are you using on the system? Would you be willing to compare some application versions and configurations?
