I dug through the PHP and echoed a bunch of strings so I could tell what was going on. Apparently the chanid table was messed up. The query was referencing channels with IDs that were old and not being updated.
To fix, I ran mythtv-setup and cleared out the channel settings. Then after mythfilldatabase, I have guide data in mythweb again and the search seems to work again.
