i installed the 500 alongside my 250 two weeks ago. it took me about about three hours only because i was searching the archives and looking for details on setup. grabbing, compiling and installing the ivtv drivers was a piece of cake. i think i'm using ivtv3.6.y(?) it was the most recent at that time. my 250 worked immediately and i had to tweak a couple config files to get the 500 to work. i'm running KnoppMyth and found all the install info/details in the KnoppMyth forums and on the KnoppMythWiki. if you look in the forum search for a posting by 'linuxgeek'. those are the install instructions (pretty much step by step) that i followed. then i had to make a couple tweaks to the /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtvX (KnoppMyth specific i believe) files to get picture and sound. i posted my steps to one of the threads here on the mailing list. search for PVR-500 and 'aclose'. if you're comfortable with Linux and you have 'currently' well supported hardware then i don't see why you wouldn't want to go with a PVR-500 over adding two 250s. but YMMV. i could just be extremely lucky. ;) _______________________________________________ mythtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users
