Hello,
I'm new to the list, but I've been browsing the archives for a few
weeks. I was hoping folks would comment on my choice of components for
a combined frontend/backend system.
I currently plan to buy the following components:
Silverstone LC-17B
Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra9 motherboard
GIGABYTE GV-NX66128DP Geforce 6600 PCIe video card
Hauppage PVR-500
SeaSonic S12-380 Power Supply
Athlon 64 3500+
OCZ 2x512MB RAM
4 Samsung Spinpoint 250GB drives
Lite-On Black DL DVD Burner
I would like to attach the system to two digital cable boxes for std def
TV capture. I believe I would attach each cable box via S-Video to the
Hauppage card, but I don't know the best way to capture audio for both
cable boxes. I would also like some tips on a USB infrared receiver and
blaster for the two cable boxes (if possible) or I'll settle for one
that is serial-based.
I believe the video card will allow for HDTV display in the future.
I've heard I could upgrade one of the cable boxes to a 3250HD and
capture HD over Firewire, but I'm unsure if premium content is available
(i.e. HBO-HD, etc).
