Yes, you need:
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
alias char-major-81-1 ivtv
(assuming your first two capture cards are ivtv) and nothing else for
the PVR-x50's.
Or does ivtv insert this for you? And what about the Avermedia M179,
is this autodetected as well?
You have to manually configure the M179. See Jarod Wilson's guide for
details: http://www.wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php .
I would consider the ivtv mailing list and wiki the authoritative source
on ivtv questions rather than Jarod's FC guide, or even the MythTV
HOWTO. If you check the ivtv resources you'll see that as of 0.4.0 the
M179 is autodetected. You don't have to manually specify the tuner anymore.
