That suggestion was for mythtv rpms only, not kernel and/or ivtv. > At this point I'm dead in the water as far a TV goes. I can still listen > to music, watch DVDs, view pictures. If you get video/sound, then you know that it's a mythtv issue (not likely). Otherwise you need to use the proper kernel, kmdl and firmware combination, and I'd take this issue to the ivtv lists and solve this there. > Tom Gutwin wrote: > >I think it might be something with updated ALSA kernel driver modules. > >There have been a couple of others with mysterious "new" audio related > >issues after kernel or alsa updates. Since this is independent of the capturing process, you can easily check this by capturing to a file and checkign whether that file has sound or not. If it has, then it could be an alsa issue. If it hasn't then alsa has nothing to play. > >see > >https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=1658 > > here is more on that ALSA report > >http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg13933.html > > > >Here are some MythTV reports > >http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2006-January/115637.html > >http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2006-January/115634.html > > > >I think we should raise this over at ALSA. > > > >tom > > > >Kirk Bocek wrote: > > > >>I recently tried upgrading ivtv from 0.4.0 to 0.4.1 and the kernel > >>from 2.6.13.2 to 2.6.14.4.
