Sorry for starting a new thread. I'm having this same problem. I found this message on gossamer threads, but it was on the list before I subscribed so I can't reply to the thread properly, so I'm pasting it in here for reference.
Anyway, the attached message pretty much summarizes my problem. I noticed there wasn't any response to the original post, but I'm hoping I can get some advice from the list on how to resolve this. Significant differences for me from the configuration mentioned below: Ubuntu 5.1 AMD64 3200+ 512MB RAM nVidia 5200 Thanks. Original post follows: === I'm having a problem with mythfrontend while watching "live" TV. It seems that if I skip around the video (fast forward or rewind) too much, mythfrontend freezes. It happens most often after the video has been paused for a long period of time which makes it even more of a nuisance since now I will miss whatever is in the pause buffer. Killing mythfrontend and restarting it is the only way to fix it once that happens -- it doesn't restore itself after a short time like the issue some people had. System specs are as follows: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ SiS chipset on motherboard (can't remember the numbering) Hauppage PVR-150 256MB RAM Fedora Core 4 IVTV driver version 0.4.1 (bug fix release -- did this with 0.4.0 too) Mythtv version 0.18.1 (installed as binary from repository) The output of mythfrontend when this happens is: 2005-11-27 21:56:48.495 Using protocol version 15 2005-11-27 21:56:50.720 Opening audio device '/dev/dsp'. 2005-11-27 21:56:50.720 Opening OSS audio device '/dev/dsp'. 2005-11-27 21:56:50.779 Using XV port 59 2005-11-27 21:56:51.124 Realtime priority would require SUID as root. 2005-11-27 21:56:51.127 Video timing method: USleep with busy wait 2005-11-27 21:56:51.163 Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV 2005-11-27 22:12:06.681 prebuffering pause 2005-11-27 22:17:16.882 prebuffering pause 2005-11-27 22:17:30.029 Waited too long for video out to pause 2005-11-27 22:17:31.033 Waited too long for video out to pause 2005-11-27 22:17:32.037 Waited too long for video out to pause . . Same message repeats for a while then: . 2005-11-27 22:18:08.732 Waited too long for decoder to pause 2005-11-27 22:18:09.184 Waited too long for video out to pause 2005-11-27 22:18:10.188 Waited too long for video out to pause 2005-11-27 22:18:11.192 Waited too long for video out to pause 2005-11-27 22:18:12.196 Waited too long for video out to pause 2005-11-27 22:18:12.736 Waited too long for decoder to pause 2005-11-27 22:18:13.200 Waited too long for video out to pause This keeps up until I kill the process or it freezes, I don't know which since I can't see it while mythfrontend is running. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a bug in mythtv or in my ivtv drivers or maybe a configuration problem? Any ideas?
